Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Riot Games recently teamed up to transform the method behind the creation and distribution of Riot's esports content in the cloud. Riot is officially the first company to use AWS's data analytics integration for esports broadcasting.

This would help reimagine how gaming fans experience Valorant and League of Legends events. As a component of the global collaboration, Riot has joined hands with AWS as its Cloud AI, Cloud Deep Learning, Cloud Machine Learning, and Cloud Services provider.

Riot Games and Amazon Web Services

Riot Games

Founded in 2006, Riot Games was developed to publish and support gaming experiences globally. Riot released its debut in 2009, League of Legends, which gathered major momentum. LoL has been one of the most played games on PC and is one of the key drivers of the massive growth in the gaming industry.

When League of Legends reached its second decade, Riot was still continuing to evolve the original game while adding newer gaming features and dishing out new games like Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, and Riot Forge.

Riot is focusing on expanding the world of Runeterra through multiple multimedia projects, including board games, comic books, Music, and the popular animated series Arcane.

Riot is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and was founded by Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill. The CEO is Nicolo Laurent. Riot Games has over 3000 Rioters across 20+ worldwide offices.

Riot Games Vision

Riot Games focuses on a long-term vision of bringing joy to its massive fan base globally through Esports. By partnering with AWS, Riot Games would level up the user experience.

John Needham, the company's President of eSports, mentioned that the expertise and wide range of solutions that AWS brings in would definitely enhance Riot Games and amp up its performance.

AWS unlocks endless opportunities, such as interacting with players and reimagining how events are viewed. At a time when Riot Games has been fighting backlash for laying off employees, this Amazon partnership is a welcome break.

Newer Ways of Experiencing Esports

Riot Games leverages AWS across its games to reinvent designs and deploy content to provide a user-immersive experience. The collaboration would also enhance the broadcast of global esports events across competitive events such as the Valorant Champions Tour, Wild Rift Sports, and League of Legends. Riot will also be using the cloud's AWS portfolio to provide fans with new experiences and insights.

Global Production for Attracting Fans

AWS and Riot share the same vision of making esports available to fans worldwide, irrespective of their location, mode of streaming, or language barriers. To achieve this, Riot is launching Project Stryker, a series of RBCs (remote broadcast centers).

These would support Riot's future projections of reimagining the overall entertainment experience, such as game developments, music production, and animation.

These solutions would be scaled according to gaming fans' evolving needs. Riot Games would also use a Dublin-based 50,000-square-foot facility to support and produce live content.

In A Nutshell

Amazon and Riot Games have collaborated on esports broadcasts on Prime Gaming and Twitch. Currently, AWS sponsors Riot Games' esports events across tours. AWS and Riot will also collaborate on developing newer social media impact solutions to increase inclusivity.

Matt Garman, the senior vice president of AWS, mentioned that the collaboration would elevate the entire gaming landscape. Teams and tournament viewers would be able to see different weapons, lanes, and abilities in real time, which would determine the champion.

AWS also looks forward to working hand in hand with Riot Games to bring engaging esports content to global fans.
