Final Fantasy VII Remake has been propelling Square Enix forward by moving over 3.5 million copies since launch. The company's next big confirmed project, Marvel's Avengers is set to launch later this year after being delayed from its original Spring release. Crystal Dynamics submitted the game to the ESRB, which means that the project is either near or fully completed and the next couple of months will be dedicated to quality assurance. With the ESRB rating, we now know the game will be rated T and include microtransactions.
This was already hinted at with past gameplay footage showing off a premium type of currency. The ESRB labels these purchases as "In-game purchases". The title will also include new post-launch content, both paid and free.
This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the roles of the Avengers battling an evil corporation. From a third-person perspective, players engage in a variety of combat missions using each character's weapons/abilities; characters use melee combat (e.g., punches, kicks, throws, smashes), pistols and machine guns, lasers, thrown projectiles (e.g., hammer, shield, rock) to defeat enemies. Combat can be frenetic, with frequent explosions, cries of pain, and gunfire. The word “sh*t” is heard in the game.
Marvel's Avengers releases September 4th on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Check out our hands-on preview here.
