With Marvel's Avengers launching on September 4, many fans are understandably excited and awaiting the game, which promises a brand new and entertaining story.

Additionally, the game has confirmed that it will be adding Spiderman to the list of playable heroes sometime in 2021, specifically for PlayStation 4 & 5 players. However, it seems that another Marvel character is in development for the upcoming game.

Crystal Dynamics, the developers of Marvel's Avengers, revealed a Black Panther icon near the beginning of their War Table stream The icon was revealed after a moment of silence for actor Chadwick Boseman, who played King T'Challa, better known as the Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Alongside the Black Panther icon, a special message had been added. Reportedly, Black Panther was supposed to make an appearance during the War Table stream, but the team ultimately revealed all related footage to pay respects to the actor, to keep the viewers' attention on his life rather than the future of a character whom he portrayed.

Black Panther, DLC, Marvel's Avengers

Chadwick Boseman had been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016, the same year that he starred in Captain America: Civil War. Nevertheless, he knocked his performance as Black Panther out of the park in 2018, and kept fans coming back for more T'Challa in Infinity War (2018) and Endgame (2019). While filming for these roles, Boseman had been undergoing surgeries and chemo, showing his true strength and dedication to his career and fans.

In place of the Black Panther DLC, Crystal Dynamics discussed its plans to introduce Kate Bishop, the young woman who had trained under Hawkeye. Although Hawkeye was expected to be the first DLC hero for the game, he has been revealed as MIA in the trailer that announced Bishop's inclusion.

As for the Black Panther DLC that was promised, no concrete dates have been announced. However, Crystal Dynamics discussed holding another War Table, some time after the title's official launch on September 4.

During this post-launch stream, the team behind Avengers will likely reveal Black Panther. Based off of the fact that the developer was planning to unveil the character at the most recent War Table, his involvement likely ties in with the earlier post-launch DLCs, which means his character is a priority for the game's story.

In the meantime, fans across the world are celebrating the life of Chadwick Boseman by watching Black Panther and other Boseman films, some fans even creating beautiful pieces of art to commemmorate the actor. Boseman's co-stars have also come forward, paying their respects for the Black Panther. Now that he has reached the astral plain, the fans say to Boseman: Rest in Peace. You were taken too early, and you will be missed by so many. Wakanda Forever!
