2022 Sonic Will Become the Foundation of Future of Sonic Games
Sonic 2022 is the future of Sonic

Sonic has had its ups and downs with the recent Sonic Forces but titles like Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania show the legendary hedgehog can still deliver on excellent adventures. The upcoming Sonic 2022 is hinted to be an open-world Sonic game and according to a Sonic Stadium will set the foundation for future games.
In an exclusive interview, Takashi Iizuka explained that this new game will be something challenging and new.
“The new title in development is progressing towards a 2022 release, so I can’t really call it an Anniversary title,” Iizuka-san told The Sonic Stadium. “However, Sonic Adventure laid the foundation for 20 years of Sonic titles after its release, so in the same way I really hope that this new title releasing in 2022 lays the foundation for the following future Sonic titles – that is the idea behind the challenge for the team.”
It was revealed the game is still in mid-development and nothing else can be said about the title. The full interview will be revealed on June 23rd. Hopefully, it not another Sonic 06 because that game was supposed to usher into a new Sonic age as well.
Sonic Colors Ultimate is the next game in the franchise and is a remaster of the original Wii version. It launches this September 7th for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, and PC.
