Final Fantasy Type-0 HD dishes out more goods.

There’s a new trailer out for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD that released for the annual Jump Fiesta event, a manga-related expo in Japan. In the clip, we delve deeper into the story of the Final Fantasy remake.

There are a bunch of cutscenes that display the turbulent times the story will go over. Nations are at war and so every faction will need to endure losses. Some take this reverence, others show anger towards this injustice. There are certain personality types that portray their region. Spiritual factions act more reserved, while militaristic groups are more aggressive.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is a remake of a PSP game that originally came out in Japan in late 2011. This heightened port will come to Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Perhaps it’s its earlier roots that prevent it from really shining in scenes, as some hairstyles look ridiculously pasted on. Similar things could be said about the stunted lip syncing. It’s still going to look a ton better than the original, probably.

Try to focus more on some snippets of gameplay. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is a slight spinoff from the main releases, in the sense that it follows more direct action, as seen from the character directly. It is, however, possible to switch between members to control a party of several people. There are the sword-swinging goons, melee brawlers and archers. A personal favorite is someone who crushes enemies with the sound of music. Who brings a flute to the battlefield, honestly?

With its real-time combat mechanism, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD follows another PSP release from the franchise, namely Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. There’s always room for one more of those, as it’s one of the few remaining exclusive major releases on the handheld.

There’s no word of a PC port for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD yet, but hopefully the recent addition of newer games in the series can bring this closer to reality. The remake will release on March 17, 2015 in North America and in Europe on March 20.
