Those eager to see the return of ToeJam and Earl will have to wait until 2018.
The news comes from the latest video confirming the new release date. The trailer features some gameplay and the voice of Jon Baily, better known as the Epic Voice Guy.
Since surpassing its Kickstarter goal 3 years ago, securing over 500,000 USD, Back in The Grove will maintain the series roots of strange and funky platforming. The first game released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis and has become a cult classic. The increased development time could be because the game was announced for the Nintendo Switch. However, an official statement was made on the Kickstarter page:
"Game development is an inexact science and it’s our priority to deliver the best, most solid game we can. To get the game across the finish line we need to push into 2018, but rest assured we are working our butts off and you guys are going to get an awesome game."
The earlier games are available on Steam if players haven't tried the original titles.
ToeJam and Earl is now expected to release in 2018 for PC, PS4, Linux, Mac, Switch, and Xbox One.
