Halloween may be over but Activision is still hunting for candy. Today the acclaimed publisher purchase the developer of Candy Crush Saga, King, for $5.9 billion.

This massive acquisition has to go through Ireland, where King is based, but Activision anticipates that everything will be official by spring 2016.

Candy Crush Saga, one of the most lucrative games on the market earning up to $1.33 billion in revenue in 2014, and the Call of Duty franchise, one of the most successful triple-A games now available, Activision just keeps getting bigger. King is also responsible for other financially successful games like Bubble Witch and Farm Heroes, both which grossed $529 million in the second quarter of 2015.

“The combined revenues and profits solidify our position as the largest, most profitable standalone company in interactive entertainment. With a combined global network of more than half a billion monthly active users, our potential to reach audiences around the world on the device of their choosing enables us to deliver great games to even bigger audiences than ever before” CEO Bobby Kotick stated.

I guess we should stop all those jokes about Bungie taking over the world, Activision has already succeeded.
