CD Projekt Red Speaks about Monetization with Cyberpunk 2077's Multiplayer
Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer monetization spoken about in recent earnings call

CD Projekt RED is one of the more consumer-friendly companies still developing games. With Cyberpunk 2077 being one of the most anticipated games this generation and the marketing including that the game will not include loot boxes or microtransactions but paid DLC. However, while the single-player will not include microtransactions it seems that the multiplayer will have some sort of monetization.
In a report from PlayStation Lifestyle, CD Projekt Red stated:
“As far as the monetization of multiplayer for Cyberpunk is concerned, we believe right now it’s definitely too early to share any details on that or give guidance; the project is in a relatively early stage,” says Adam Kicinski, CD Projekt Red’s Chief Executive Officer during an earnings call. “We keep experimenting – that’s our first multiplayer game. We check various options and possibilities, and it’s definitely not the time to point you in a specific direction on that. Of course, you can expect that we won’t change our general policy towards ‘deals with gamers’ so I expect wise monetization and – always – value for money.”
It should be noted that Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer won't launch with the game and will come at a later date. It should also be noted that CD Projekt RED didn't state microtransactions and considering their stance on the system it's likely they're referring to something else. Only time will tell.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on April 16 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It'll come to Google Stadia at a later date.
