Dead Island 2 has had a rough road to store shelves. With a confirmed release date of April 28th, 2023, publisher Deep Silver opened pre-orders for Dambuster Studios' much-anticipated zombie game during a Showcase on December 7th.
Set in vibrant, sunny Los Angeles, Dead Island 2 is a first-person, melee-focussed action game in which players slay hordes of bloody zombies in gory, visceral combat. From Beverly Hills to Venice Beach, with multiple playable characters including Hollywood stuntman Jacob and Paralympian Amy, players can team up with three friends to bash, slash and smash their way through zombie-infested L.A.
All editions of Dead Island 2 include the base game and (if you pre-order) the Memories of Banoi Pack. This pack contains the Banoi War Club, Banoi Baseball Bat, a Weapons Perk, and a Skills Card. The Standard and Day One editions contain only the game and Memories of Banoi Pack.
The Pulp Edition is a physical copy of the game which features the Pulp Weapons Pack. This contains the 'Homewrecker' Sledge Hammer and the 'Eye Opener' Pitchfork. The Digital Deluxe Edition meanwhile is cross-gen and contains the Golden Weapons Pack and Character Packs 1 & 2. The Gold Edition features all of the above and Dead Island 2's expansion pass. Lastly, the HELL. A. Edition, which costs $99.99, contains everything previously listed as well as some interesting physical awards. It comes with a colorful steelbook, a Venice Beach travel map, 6 Tarot cards depicting the playable zombie slayers, 2 pin badges, and an Infernal patch.
Deep Silver is also selling a limited-edition resin statue of Amy. The statue shows her relaxing after a long day of zombie slaying with a milkshake in one hand, and a machete in the other. This statue will cost buyers $149.99.
Dead Island 2 pre-orders are now open and the game is available on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on 28th April 2023.
