Belgian developer Larian Studios has a release date for its current project of Divinity: Original Sin, currently available on Steam through Early Access. It will launch in full on June 20, 2014. It also has a trailer to show off what they’ve been doing since.
There’s quite a bit of work that has gone into the roleplaying game (RPG). It features a set of small and large monsters, varying locations, tons of quests, multiple paths and so on. Even better, this can be done in a cooperative system that shapes the rest of the game. Combat uses environment elements for alternate effects, to give players more choices in how to fight. It’s possible to share adventures online with others for more content. There’s a lot of game to Divinity: Original Sin.
Originally, Divinity: Original Sin went to Kickstarter for additional help. It received $944,282 of a needed $400,000. That must’ve helped a bit.
Its only downside is that price points for regions wildly differ. North American gamers pay $39.99, where European gamers are scaled to €39.99, which isn’t exactly the same. In fact, it’s roughly $55 or upwards of a 30% increase. That’s not cool, but the game seems more than huge enough to make up for any such discrepancy.
