Final Fantasy VII Revelation is officially set to launch on April 8, 2027, and the pre-order rollout gives you plenty of ways to spend more than the standard $69.99 asking price. The base game arrives across PlayStation 5, PC, XBOX Series S and X, and Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
The biggest immediate difference between the editions is the 24-hour advanced access window, which comes with the Premium and Premium Plus versions. The early access period is relatively modest compared with some other games that have offered several days of head starts, but it still means you can begin playing on April 7 if you choose one of those editions.

More importantly, the Premium Edition also bundles the Story Expansion Pass, making it the more interesting upgrade if you already know you want the additional story content. The Story Expansion Pass includes two planned story DLCs. One focuses on Sephiroth, while the other centers on Vincent and the Turks.
Both are currently planned for release between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028.
The exact order has not been confirmed, although the wording suggests the Sephiroth chapter could arrive first, followed by the Vincent and Turks story. You can also buy the Story Expansion Pass separately after launch, while each DLC will eventually be sold on its own after its respective release.
The planned dates and contents can change, so the current schedule should be treated as a plan rather than a guarantee. The two DLCs also do not qualify for the 24-hour advanced access period. That early start applies to the main game itself.
For the Premium Edition, you get the base game plus the Story Expansion Pass and the 24-hour head start. The Premium Plus Edition costs $110 and adds several digital extras for another $10. Those bonuses include a digital artbook, a digital mini soundtrack, the Polydroid Alexander Summoning Materia, the Nymphwing Bracelet armor, and the Risk Taker’s Choker.
If you prefer physical collectibles, the Deluxe Edition comes in at $100 and offers a different set of extras. You get a hardback artbook, a mini soundtrack CD, an exclusive steelbook case, and a copy of Final Fantasy VII Revelation with a reversible cover.
There is also a limited in-box Magic: The Gathering - FINAL FANTASY Promo Card, adding another physical collectible to the package.
Then there is the $350 Collector’s Edition, which is clearly aimed at fans who want the centerpiece item rather than simply the game and standard bonuses. Its main attraction is a Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth statue. You also get everything included with the Deluxe Edition, along with the digital bonus content and both story DLCs.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version has one detail worth keeping in mind: it will use a game key card, and the game requires 130GB of storage. That makes the storage requirement something you will want to account for before choosing that version.
There is also a separate bundle that puts the entire remake trilogy together. The Remake Series Trilogy Edition includes Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth and Revelation in digital form, with a $84.99 price available across PSN, PC and XBOX until April 7. If you have been waiting to experience the full three-game run together, this gives you a lower-priced route into the complete digital lineup.
Japan is also getting a Remake Series Complete Edition in limited quantities through the Square Enix store. You can pre-order PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam versions, and the package includes all three games along with unique cover art and bonuses. The listed price is 77,777 yen. For fans outside Japan, the lack of a similarly announced Stateside version is a notable difference.
Beyond the pricing and packages, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is also expanding how you move around and fight across its world.
The game presents a large open world where you can explore the planet using the Highwind airship. Your Chocobo companion Piko returns as well, but this time Piko has a larger role. You can use Piko as a mount and as a combat ally, and the companion grows stronger alongside your party while gaining abilities useful for both traversal and battles.
Combat is getting another major layer through the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system, better known as FITS. You can customize play styles with uniforms that come with their own move sets. Four specialized FITS are available: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner.
Each one changes how party members function and gives you additional tactical options during combat. The FITS system also gives you more freedom over how your characters look and play. The different outfits provide visual variety while changing abilities, so customizing your party is not simply an aesthetic choice. It is tied directly to how you approach battles.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is also introducing dynamic character switching, allowing you to move between party members instantly while exploring. Traversal gets another upgrade through a grappling gun, which lets you reach rooftops and move around the city more quickly.
Some quests will give you a choice of which party member handles the section.
One example highlighted is a choice between Vincent and Cid. Vincent’s route focuses more on traveling on foot, while Cid’s route leans more heavily on Chocobo-based traversal. That means certain content can play out differently depending on who you select.
Queen’s Blood is returning too, and this time the card game gets a substantial storyline centered on Red XIII. The new campaign introduces stronger opponents and gameplay challenges designed to push the strategic mechanics further. Some opponents can dramatically change the flow of a match, giving experienced players new problems to solve instead of simply repeating the same style of Queen’s Blood seen before.
Pre-order bonuses are part of the rollout as well. All editions include the Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle Summoning Materia, while the Premium versions give you the 24-hour advanced access period. With the Premium Edition sitting at $100 in the pricing discussion, it is positioned as a likely choice for fans who want the story expansions as well as the main game.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is therefore shaping up as more than a straightforward conclusion to the remake series. You are getting a large open-world setup, Highwind exploration, a stronger role for Piko, new FITS combat customization, instant party switching, grappling-based traversal, branching character choices, and another Queen’s Blood campaign.
Most importantly, the post-launch plan gives the game a substantial continuation through the Sephiroth and Vincent and Turks stories.
With the main release scheduled for April 8, 2027, and advanced access beginning April 7 for the eligible editions, the pre-order lineup now makes the different ways to buy the game much clearer. For you as a buyer, the pricing structure makes the choice more than a simple standard-versus-deluxe decision.

The base game costs $69.99, while the Premium Edition is aimed at players who already want the planned story additions and early access. Final Fantasy VII Revelation also gives collectors a much more expensive route, with the $350 package built around the Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth statue.
The simultaneous platform launch is another important part of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. You can play on PS5, PC, XBOX Series S and X, or Nintendo Switch 2 from April 8, 2027, rather than waiting for separate versions to arrive later. For Nintendo Switch 2 owners, the 130GB requirement and game key card format are details worth remembering before launch.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is also giving you more reasons to spend time away from the main path. Piko can help with exploration and combat, the grappling gun adds mobility in cities, and character switching lets you adjust your party while exploring.
The new Queen’s Blood campaign gives Red XIII a larger role while adding opponents that can disrupt familiar strategies. With Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the launch package and post-launch plan are now both taking shape, even though the DLC schedule can still change.
