Mass Effect Trilogy Rumored To Receive Remaster For Modern Consoles

Gamers around the world have enjoyed the Mass Effect series of games for years, despite the fact that the gameplay from the first game has not aged well. Fans are still venturing back to the game that started it all to relive the exceptional story, suffering through the 2007 gameplay and graphics as they do so. For new converts to Mass Effect, the game's age and clunky controls may turn them away from the series. However, recent news has brought hope to these new players, offering an easier and smoother transition.
 

In a recent article from VentureBeat, Jeff Grubb presented a list of EA's projects that are set to release sometime over the next 12 months. On this list is an item labeled "An HD remake of an EA game." As the article continues, Grubb explains each item on the list of new games until he gets to the remake. Concerning this, Grubb states: "Oh, and that HD remaster of an EA game is the Mass Effect Trilogy. Just don't expect that to also launch on Switch--at least not at first." This promise is huge news not only for fans of the game, but could be a redeeming action for EA as a whole, after the failure of its looter-shooter Anthem in 2019. While some players are overjoyed at this announcement, nothing has truly been confirmed by EA themselves. But VentureBeat is not the only source for the rumors.

An article from GameReactor also confirms this rumor, saying that the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster will likely launch in Fall 2020, taking place of EA's usual blockbusters, Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront. Additionally, the article further supports their claim, saying: "Bioware's social media channels have been teasing it for months by sharing beloved music from the [Mass Effect] trilogy, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get to see our favorite remasters on the Citadel." 
 

However, there is one catch to all this news about a modern Mass Effect release. According to a Tweet by Grubb on June 12, this remaster is not likely to be revealed at EA play, scheduled to premier on June 18. He reassures readers by saying "It [Mass Effect Trilogy remastered]'s coming--but it just might not take a slot at this event." Although there has been no official comment from EA or Bioware concerning these rumors, more and more hints are leaning towards a Mass Effect release later this year.
