If you've been waiting for a major update to The Blood of Dawnwalker, you won't have to wait much longer. Rebel Wolves is preparing to release Update 1.1 sometime next week, bringing a substantial list of improvements and new features to the action RPG. While the developer hasn't revealed every detail yet, the currently confirmed additions already give you a good idea of what to expect.
The update is expected to arrive toward the end of October, just in time for Halloween. The full patch notes aren't out yet, but the developer has detailed several features and changes that will be included in the release. These include requested gameplay additions, plus tweaks to improve combat and traversal.

One of the biggest additions in The Blood of Dawnwaker update is the Draught of Mind Rebirth, essentially a respec potion. This item lets you reset your old abilities and rebuild your character without being stuck with your old choices forever.
The potion lets you forget your Sword Mastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism abilities, so you can spend your time mastering a different skill set instead. This can be especially helpful if you've been experimenting with different abilities and want to try a different approach without starting over.
Many players have asked for a respec option, so it's nice to see it included. A mod already offers similar functionality, but not everyone is comfortable with mods. The game should include an option to make changing your character's abilities much more accessible.
Another new feature lets you pet animals such as dogs and cats.
It's not the biggest feature in the update, but it gives you yet another way to interact with the world around you. The feature also brings a lighter touch to a game where you can engage in directional combat and, in certain situations, drink the blood of the very animals you encounter.
Update 1.1 will also expand the available story difficulty options. The existing forgiving game mode, previously called Story, will remain available, while a new story mode with additional combat assistance will offer an even easier experience.
This is the ultra-easy difficulty option that the developers previously promised. It should help players who want to experience the story without struggling so much with combat. That might not suit everyone, but it gives players more freedom to choose an experience that fits their preferences.
Subtitle settings are also receiving additional options. If you've wanted more control over how subtitles appear on screen, the update adds more customization options, including font size adjustments. These changes should make the game more comfortable for players who prefer different subtitle settings.
Beyond these new features, Rebel Wolves is introducing several technical and gameplay improvements.
Frame generation is getting an update, including dedicated settings that should give players more control. The full extent of these changes remains unclear, but the dedicated options are among the improvements coming with the patch.

The update is also adjusting camera behavior, particularly during combat. The update will change animations and camera movement, along with improvements to the combat system itself.
Targeting is another area receiving attention.
Players can expect improvements to locking onto enemies and disengaging, addressing a combat aspect that has drawn requests for adjustments. These changes should help make encounters feel more responsive and give you better control when switching between enemies or repositioning during a fight.
Traversal is receiving similar attention. The update will improve responsiveness when targeting and attaching to surfaces while using Shadow Step and Plane Shift. Because these abilities are part of how you move around the world, the adjustments could make traversal feel smoother and reduce frustration when interacting with surfaces.
Japanese players will also benefit from a specific change.
The Japanese version of The Blood of Dawnwalker on Steam will no longer censor blood and gore. This means the version available on the platform will no longer apply the existing censorship to those elements. The biggest indicator of the update's scope is the confirmation that it includes more than 1,100 additional improvements and fixes. That's a substantial number of changes, although the developer hasn't provided a complete breakdown.
More information about these fixes is expected when the update launches. Rebel Wolves is currently working on the patch notes, and a studio representative confirmed they'll be released alongside the patch rather than ahead of time.
As a result, you'll have to wait until next week to see the full list of changes. Not every fix will get individual attention, given the sheer number involved, but there should be plenty to discuss once the full patch notes are available.
However, not everything players have been waiting for will arrive with Update 1.1. New Game Plus, one of the more anticipated additions, is still in development and will arrive later.
Rebel Wolves previously promised the feature, and a representative has reiterated that work is ongoing. Unfortunately, there's no confirmed release date yet, so if you've been waiting on another playthrough until New Game Plus becomes available, you'll have to wait for another announcement.

It's also still up in the air whether The Blood of Dawnwalker will have a Nightmare difficulty or another particularly difficult mode. When asked whether the developer is considering a much harder difficulty option, a spokesperson declined to share details, saying they could not comment further, but assured players that they were considering more features.
While that response doesn't guarantee a Nightmare mode, it suggests that the studio remains open to expanding the game's available features. Players seeking a greater challenge may remain hopeful, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
Downloadable content is another possibility.
A communications director previously said they were considering all options and that future growth or additional material was still possible. But so far there's been no concrete announcement about what that content might be or when it might be coming.
For now, all eyes are on Update 1.1, with its host of gameplay tweaks, quality-of-life features, and technical fixes. With over 1,100 fixes and improvements, including the confirmed additions, the patch seems like a major step forward for The Blood of Dawnwalker.
The update is scheduled to release in late October, giving players a nice opportunity to get back into the game around Halloween. But if you're waiting specifically for New Game Plus or more enemies, you might want to hold off until we get some more substantive additions.
Ultimately, Update 1.1 looks like it will be hitting multiple community asks and improving on existing systems. The respec potion, expanded difficulty options, more responsive combat, and traversal adjustments should give you several reasons to revisit the game next week. With the full patch notes still to come, the complete extent of Rebel Wolves' work will only become clear once the update is released.
