Square Enix has announced that Trials of Mana will be patched to version 1.1.0 on October 14th. The update will include two new harder difficulty settings: “Very Hard” and “No Future”. Both will require completing the entire base game and starting in New Game+ mode. Very Hard will include increased enemy stats bringing up the initial challenge to a pre-existing party. No Future will further amp this up with more features. This includes resetting an imported party back to level 1, greatly restricting ability and item use, and adding time limits during boss encounters. Playing through the mode will also unlock new Chain Abilities, “Guidance of the Sacred Sword” will keep characters at 1 HP instead of dying, and “Guidance of the Sacred Sword II” which will fully restore HP after combat. Completing the entire game in No Future will also unlock a set of Rabite Slippers.

Additionally, players will have the option of returning to level 1 even if replaying in a lower difficulty setting. Other quality of life changes include new Goddess Statue locations for class resets, the ability to retain costumes after class rest (but only those acquired after the patch), and skippable cutscenes.
