The Rayman franchise might be returning in a new AAA game from Ubisoft. People on Reddit noticed and bookmarked employment ads on Ubisoft's website asking people to work on games using the "Rayman Brand." Two positions were available: one for a 3D gameplay animator and one for a senior game designer.

It appears that Ubisoft may have posted the employment ads earlier than intended, since the company has now removed them. However, the job ads for both positions might still be visible on the Internet Archive. Both ads claim that Ubisoft Milan will be making the Rayman game as well.

"Ubisoft Milan is looking for a Senior Game Designer to work on the Rayman brand," as mentioned in one of the job listings. "The best candidate has a lot of experience as a Game Designer in the video game industry and knows how to define, prototype, and implement game systems within the project's scope and according to the Game direction, making sure to capture the gameplay feel while still being fun and easy to understand."

There is no indication in either of the job postings as to the genre of the AAA Rayman game that the candidates will be working on. Unlike Rayman Origins and Legends, which were 2D side-scrolling games, this one appears to be looking for a 3D gameplay animator. The Mario + Rabbids series might serve as inspiration for the name.

In October, Ubisoft mentioned that they were considering rebooting the Rayman series. Although the project is still in its early stages, the firm has announced that its Montpellier and Milan studios will be responsible for it. The creator of the Rayman franchise, Michel Ancel, was reportedly involved as a consultant "to make sure everything fit with the universe".

The previous core game in the Rayman series, Rayman Legends, came out in 2013, and since then, Ubisoft has remained mum on the subject. However, in 2024, whispers circulated that Milan was allegedly developing a Rayman reboot. According to these speculations, the title was developed by some of the same folks who worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

Ubisoft Milan's most recent major release was the side-scrolling metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. In January of 2024, it was released on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Subsequent versions of the game were released for macOS, Android, and iOS.

Rumor has it that the game sold over 1.3 million copies by January 2025. According to the company, "well over" 2 million people play Ubisoft games. Reportedly, the developers approached Ubisoft with a sequel concept, but the studio rejected it. They said they had to reject it so Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown could keep selling in the long run.
