Abbey Games are no strangers to god games, having Reus under their bel,t and it's only fitting that Godhood was announced as the studio's next project. Slated for a 2019 release on PC, "Godhood takes place in a vibrant, primal world where players take on the role of a newborn deity, developing their own religion from scratch, all while managing their followers and challenging any other gods that stand in their way." Replacing Reus' 2D side-scrolling perspective with an isometric one, you'll have the option of creating your own religion. Whether it's centered on sacrifice, war or having people "run around as lustful vegetarian barbarians", your religion's focus as well as your followers' virtues and vices are in your hands to define.

In true god game fashion, followers cannot be controlled directly, but rather directed using various abilities and powers. Other gods eager to prove their mettle, will eventually show up, leading to battle. Godhood's ritual combat takes place in so called "Sacraments" where "players’ followers will need to prove their worth through the use of awe, persuasion, and brute force." For all its promise of bloodshed, however, Godhood has a fairly colorful, hand-drawn art style which you can see in action in the game's first teaser trailer.

Godhood is set to release sometime next year on PC.
