Frogger Returns

Growing up there were a few "classic" titles that my friends and I always played. Frogger was the bee's knees back in the day. You thought Halo was big now? Pshh, Frogger was the stuff way back when. What was funner than watching your friends get squashed? I'll tell you what...nothing! Sadly...I don't think I can really say the same for Frogger Returns...
Frogger Returns doesn't really offer much more than the older games. There's a total of four levels and a multiplayer mode. Each four levels has you hopping along avoiding cars, rats, trains and monkeys as you hope to reach the end of each stage five times. This is your typical addicting Frogger. It's just as much fun as always playing with someone else and watching as you each fail. The gameplay doesn't feel old but it's simple enough that you can pick it up and play for a little while then put it back down for later.
All of that is good and fine however the major weak point here is the lack of content. Frogger Returns contains only four levels...and that's about it. There's no real incentive to go back through any level and heck for those of us Trophy collectors once you beat the fourth level you'll have earned the final Trophy of..wait for it...four.
That's not to say the game is bad mind you. Just be forewarned that there's nothing to come back to after completing the extremely lengthy campaign....yeah. Frogger Returns also misses out on an opportunity to go HD. This seems like a natural step for a lot of PSN games these days so it's a wonder why they chose not to do it. Nonetheless Frogger Returns is good for a couple of nights for the true "Frogger Faithful" but don't expect much else from a few good laughs and maybe an hour or so of playtime. Once you finish this game it's highly unlikely you'll be picking it back up anytime soon.
