Hairy Tales

Hairy Tales meant for your cell phone, not your computer.

Hairy Tales brings you into the lives of a group of dimwitted folk spirits as they fight for the freedom of their corrupt ridden world. Inspired by ChuChu Rocket and Lemmings, the Hairy's partake on their adventure in three different worlds (forest, desert, swamp), each with twenty-four levels.

Players are given control of the platform world in which the Hairy's live; rotate and rearrange hexagonal tiles of earth, guiding the Hairy's to the safety of an end tile. Use fences to block the Hairy's from falling, cannons to defeat enemies, and wells to transport across the area. Without your assistance the Hairy's will walk off the platform, be attacked by Kikimoras, or be injured by evil oak trees; leading to certain death.

Rotate each hexagon creating a path to safety for the Hairy before he falls to his death.

Along the way the Hairy's are often required to collect a magic stone to clear dangerous tiles and protect them from danger. Through their journey they pick up power ups and magic mushrooms making for an easier, more interesting trip. Collect power ups to access otherwise impossible areas and every mushroom to complete 100% of the level.

While playing through the levels you will notice a gradual increase in difficulty. Fail to get the Hairy to safety and restart the puzzle or choose to skip the level. The skip feature is one that makes the game more enjoyable as many puzzles may be distressing after numerous failed attempts. When feeling frustrated it's an easy choice to skip a difficult level but may bring up a sense of fraud. A useful feature but one that takes away the challenge.

Graphically this puzzle/action game is what you would expect. Minor glitches and less than perfect animation can be ignored as you are in for endless hours of entertainment. Each level will surely not be played the same by everyone and in repeating levels you will find multiple solutions. However entertaining the game, playing Hairy Tales on a tablet or cell phone is a must.

End-world boss characters make for a truly challenging puzzle.

During my entire play through on my computer I kept thinking how much more enjoyable Hairy Tales would be on my cell phone. A touch screen felt necessary in order to quickly move tiles and arrange the environment. Therefore, Hairy Tales is a game to casually play while riding the bus or sitting in a waiting room, not a game to fire up your computer for.
