The game many nostalgia-hungry gamers have been waiting months for has finally come out earlier this week. Sick days upon sick days were scheduled for this realease, but what most gamers are experiencing a nightmare. If you have been following Halo: The Master Chief Collection or if you are one of the disappointed gamers then you probably already know that the launch has been the furthest thing from the ideal release.

343i and Bungie favorites have been compiled all into one game. That's right, You receive the four original releases (Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4), a special ten year anniversary edition of Halo 2 (Halo 2 Anniversary), and access to the Halo 5 Mulitplayer Beta later this year for only $60! Each game has had a graphics overhaul, meaning each game now runs in 1080p 60 FPS, yet still holding the same beautiful gameplay all gamers who have played the previous titles enjoyed. Every campaign, every multiplayer map, every gun, and every bit of nostalgia tied into one game; it is if a dream has come true to gamers of first-person shooters.

Campaign

Halo: TMCC contains all four of the campaigns that were included with the original games. Although the graphics received the major overhaul, 343i made it easy to navigate between the old graphics that most gamers grew up playing on and the new graphics. All campaign missions are unlocked from the start in all four of the games so that you can access your favorite missions right from the start. 343i also added another fan favorite, skulls, which modify the game in various ways such as extra health or unlimited ammo, to the Halo:Combat Evolved campaign which promotes even more exciting gameplay. The main menu is beautifully done and extremely easy to navigate which makes it easy for anyone to pick up and play.

Multiplayer

Halo: TMCC includes a ridiculous amount of content for just one game. There is over 100 maps over five different playlists ( Halo:CE, Halo 2, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4) including the six remade maps from Halo 2. The custom games screen is very user friendly as well and includes the fan-favorite Forge mode. Halo: TMCC also includes theater mode which allows you to watch previous game footage and also take screenshots. Gameplay is definitely up to par and 343i is bringing back the original Halo 2 ranking system (Trueskill 1-50) to the playlists. Halo has pioneered competitve gaming and organizations are sure that competitve Halo is going to make an exciting comeback.

Final Points

Halo: TMCC isarguably having the worst launch on the Xbox One to date. Many players are having a tough time trying to get back to what they missed so much, which is classic Halo matchmaking. 343i announce the game would be running on dedicated servers, therefore there would be no more player to player hosting. The matchmaking right now is having a rough time due to the volume of people repeatedly taxing the system looking for a match, resulting in long wait times/, game/console freezing, and many bugs being reported. 343i is currently working on the matchmaking and getting all of the bugs worked out. Overall the game has received such shock and awe on the graphic overhaul and the ability to combine all of the Halo FPS series into one game and is definitely a game to add to your collection in this holiday season.
