Bungie Announces New Artifact Mods Coming to Destiny 2 Season 21

New Artifact mods are coming to Destiny 2 including Anti-Champion mods coming to Season of the Deep.

Bungie has revealed all the new Artifact mods that will be coming in Season 21, Season of the Deep. With these new artifacts, players will now have a multitude of new tools to choose from, including one that may make facing off against Destiny 2’s more infamous champion enemies a bit easier. Though champions are not necessarily the most difficult enemies to face off against, that title goes to the Tormenters, the newest type of enemies added to the game, they still pose a rather intimidating threat especially when attempting to face off against Destiny 2's aspirational endgame encounters.

Artifacts, including Seasonal ones, have become somewhat of a staple in Destiny 2, especially since the Shadowkeep era of the game. These artifacts are oftentimes the basis for many seasonal builds and the overall gameplay meta for the sci-fi shooter. Artifact mods add new traits or provide essential buffs and benefits to pre-existing weapon class abilities. Many of these mods can entirely change the gameplay landscape, such was the case with the Particle Deconstruction mod, which permanently changed how PvE was handled in Destiny 2. Articaft mods are usually sorted into different mod categories, such as subclass-oriented mods, ability-oriented mods, weapon class-based mods, etc. and of course the most sought-after category being Anti-Champion.

These Anti-Champion mods were first introduced in the Lightfall DLC. These new artifacts were a part of a new set of Subclass verbs, which were weapon-specific Artifact mods that are still the most reliable way to deal with Champion type enemies. Much like the previous season's Artifact mods, the ones introduced in Season of Defiance, which provided a significant boost to both the Arc and Void Light subclasses, along with the Strand which received the most attention during that expansion.

However, this time round in Season of the Deep, there will now be new Anti-Champion options for Overload Scout Rifles, Trace Rifles, Unstoppable Glaives, Hand Cannons and of course the usual Subclass verbs that offer Anti-Champion capabilities. Interestingly, it would seem that weapons from Season 20 will also be benefiting from the Deeper Origins Artifact mod as weapons from Defiant Battlegrounds, the Root of Nightmares raid, and armaments from Neomuna will be getting new traits from the mod.

In the 'This Week At Bungie' post that is available on the official Bungie Site, there are more details about all the changes that will be coming to the next season of Destiny 2. These include a new visual overhaul to the combat shields of enemies, which many are not too excited about. As the release of Season of the Deep inches closer and closer, hopefully we will get more information about what is to come.
