Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. You can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states.
It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.

We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

@azn_pride - I also downloaded the latest firmware, and I was getting excited to log in. However, in my country the PSN is still under maintenance. It won't be for long tough, I can wait another week.
@Knight - As of now, we don't have any info about the free products that Sony will give us. We'll keep you posted.
I'm glad PSN is back up for the most part as well. I probably won't bother with the free stuff much though since it's only for a month so no need to get used to it then have to pay if I want to keep up with it from that point on. They will be releasing regional lists of the free content that will be available in your area at a later date, most likely the same time the Playstation Store and Qriocity services go back online since any of the free content they are offering wouldn't even be available for use until after that anyways. If you would like to keep an eye out for that on the official Playstation Blog just click on the little link there to take you there. :)
I still haven't received an email from SONY for changing my password, but it's perfectly understandable because the servers have a lot of requests, patience is a virtue. :)
Another security compromise was just announced reguarding the PSN website.
Dl the firmware update, changed my password, done. Nice to see PSN back up again...well at least some of it. Playstation Store's still under maintenance, but hey, it's a work in progress. And also, the way they handled it was pretty classy (via Kaz Hirai), so I guess I forgive them :P
Anyway, where's my free stuff Sony? And my month-free of Playstation Plus? Can't wait for that :)
