It’s that time of the year again where PC elitists can spend their hard earn income day in and day out for the entire summer. Steam has kicked off its summer sale and has done so in style. Apart from tons upon tons upon tons of games on sale right now, there’s also a way to win some free stuff.

NoobFeed News - Steam Summer Sale - Win Prizes / Deals Scoped

The first method is to play games and earn prize tickets, by unlocking special in-game achievements. Each day a new set of games will be available to gain these tickets, which can then be redeemed at the prize booth, currently marked at 3 tickets. There are all sorts of maps, gears, missions and so forth to be had, so have a look. Naturally, this does imply ownership of the ticket holding games.

Secondly, these tickets will also enter players in a grand prize raffle, where 100 players will receive 10 games from their Steam wishlist. This is my wishlist, for instance. For more information on the grand event and the many sales, such as complete packs and publisher bundles at very low prices, just visit the Steam home page.

Now, I’ll also try and scope some good deals from time to time. But as I can’t always write articles about it, please follow me on Twitter to get frequent updates. Here are today’s awesome deals:

Recettear is just too cute. Don't you just want to pinch its cheeks?

Recettear: The indie smash hit is now available for pennies. Everyone should pick it up, since the price is less than a freaking Happy Meal and will make you a lot happier.

Borderlands: Blow Stuff up, get loot.

Borderlands GOTY Edition: One of the best multiplayer RPGs from Duke Nukem developer Gearbox is now 75% off, all DLC included. If you can find 3 more people that haven’t bought into the title yet; the four pack is also discounted.

  • I'm not planning on buying much this summer, but I did rebuy Oblivion (the GOTY Deluxe Magnifique Extraordinaire version or whatever) because it had all the DLC, most of which is tough to find separately.

  • Gosh this is simply the biggest Steam event I've been witness to. The prices of some of the sales items have left me with my jaw on the floor.

And the little tickets for the prize draw. That'd be brilliant to win.

*goes about arranging 10 most expensive games on wishlist...*

Fingers crossed for Fallout 3 GOTY dropping in price even further... I loved that game. I'd love to play it again on PC :P
