A Look Back at Some of The Worst Games of 2024

With the new year firmly underway, gaming audiences are excited about the year ahead. For instance, much of the conversation online at the moment seems to be surrounding the Marvel games that are coming in 2025, while some gamers can’t wait for the Resident Evil 5 Remake. Overall, it’s an exciting time to be a gamer. Last year, that wasn’t necessarily always the case, though, with some horrific releases coming to the fore.

Despite being a quieter year for big releases, these shoddy products caused quite a stir among gaming communities. Some titles had no plus points, others were just pure stinkers, and some games promised a lot but delivered very little.

Dustborn, Worst Games of 2024

So, with 2025 promising to provide gamers with some unmissable releases, let’s hope some of 2024’s worst games are firmly stuck in the past. Below is a brief look at just some of them.

Dustborn

The thought of embarking on a memorable road trip across America is an opportunity so many people would struggle to turn down. That’s exactly what was on offer in Dustborn, a game that initially captivated gamers.

In the end, though, players were deflated by the overall experience on offer. The combat was painfully stiff and monotonous; it was far too political for many people, and it was just a bit dull to rate highly.

Concord

A multiplayer first-person hero shooter that gamers were intrigued by when details of its release were first announced, Concord was a massive letdown when it did eventually become available.

In fact, the game barely lasted a month before shutting down. For a paid release, it certainly upset a lot of people, although it was probably for the best. Still, what a shambles.

Skull and Bones

Understandably, millions of gamers around the world couldn’t wait to play Skull and Bones. Those sessions generally didn’t last long, though, as the game failed to nail so many important aspects.

Given the amount of coverage the game was getting before it was released, the fact that it was delayed so many times was a joke in itself. Then, when it finally did get released, Skull and Bones just didn’t hit the mark with gamers. From poor graphics to the game’s combat style, there was so much wrong with it.

Neon White

Even though Neon White was initially released in 2022, it seemed to gain traction last year. Despite the hype surrounding it, it wasn’t well received by all gamers. From the annoying voice acting and art style to the dialogue and characters, it was a forgettable release for so many dedicated players.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Worst Games of 2024

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Although some gamers will be surprised to see Dragon Age: The Veilguard make the list, it didn’t go down well with all gamers. Sure, there are certainly worse games to play, but the latest installment in the series made me feel lazy.

There was no evidence of growth or any significant changes, and while it’s sometimes best to leave a strong product alone, it didn’t really deliver anything new for gamers to get their teeth into. The story wasn’t the best, either. Overall, it was a disappointment.

Other poor releases from 2024 include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Unknown 9: Awakening, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Silent Hill: The Short Message, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Star Wars: Hunters, and Endless Ocean: Luminous.
