Chapter 34
Eye’s of Another
Screams took to the skies, drowning out all other sounds. The charred corpse littered the streets as Nicole made it to the first of the three interior walls that surrounded the Castle in Talson. When she was within three strides of the gate she was met with a wall of arrows raining down at her. She looked up at them and laughed as each arrow began to warp and bend, contorting to her will until they could no longer and dissipated from existence. Her voice doom with anguish and fury as she kept on moving deeper in to the heart of Talson. Her eyes no longer her own, the blades, looked to be waging a war within itself.
“Nicole, stop please, calm down.”
Sarwar pleaded with the girl, her actions far too demonic to be her own. She only turned to look at him, with a toothy grin before a low pitched growl took its place. Her words sounded darker then her eyes.
“Leave me slave of the army, no soul survives this attack, I’ll take them all for my own. It is what father would have wanted.”
“No it isn’t Nicole. Don’t you see, it’s the spirit of the blade wanting recreate your father. It’s not what he wants. That damned sword just wants to be free. It would kill even those of its own kin to do so.”
“Nicole is no longer here you fool. I’ve completely taken over, and I’ve not intentions on reviving her father. He’ll just try to kill me off like he last time. At least last time he died with me. Now I’ll just his very blade to forge me a body of my own. Once I’ve that, I’ll feed this girl’s body to the wolves after I’ve had my fun with it. Then, I’ll plunge this world in to the darkest fires. No one will be spared, all shall be burned alive.”
“No… Richard, you’ve been the one… all along it’s been you in the blade?”
“Isn’t that obvious Sarwar? How could you have not noticed sooner? You know her father better than any of us. He’d never had allowed her to wage a war like this. I’ve been manipulating you all since the day she drew the blade. Hell I even killed the only too people that could have known about me being in the blade.”
“Cole and Bri?”
“Exactly, those two were his chosen ones. They were branded with a taste of his gift in order to be a counter to the rage that I’m able to pour out of this girl’s body. With them gone, I’ll never have to worry about being sealed away. And with you only having your style of magick, your little more than gnat attempting to strike a drake. You’re nothing to me. This world is mine. All of it will burn.”
“Richard you bastard, you took advantage of an innocent little girl and gave her the desire for revenge. You let her think you were father. Where is she now? Her soul?”
“In the blade, she thinks she’s still fighting, but it’s all a dream. She’s helpless to do anything to stop me.”
“Where is his spirit?”
“Ricardo? Sealed away, dormant, there’s no way he’ll awaken himself. I’ll win Sarwar. Nothing can stop me.”
Sarwar was in shock. Richard had not only returned once again, but done so with the help of Nicole. He forced Ricardo in to a slumber as they both died. The blade being so close between the two, it took in both souls. Their gifts so similar the blade did not know who its true master was. A mistake that means the end of life, the end of light. Little hope was left in this world, Ricardo awakening or Nicole realizing what’s really going on. Sarwar had little hope in both. There was only one thing he could do. He reached in to his pocket and pulled free a cigarette. He lit it slowly and took a drag. Once his mind cooled her moved. Compelled by the desire to save all those he loved, Sarwar made a mad dash right for Nicole’s body. He tackled her from behind and took the sword from her hand. The blade clattered on the ground as both of them started to stand up. Nicole’s voice was gone, and replacing it was Richards. A rolling laughter escaped those lips as her body stood back up. Mocking Sarwar’s attempt.
“Did you think you’d have sent me back in with that? I’m so much in control that her soul is in it, not mine. You’ve severed you only chance to stop me.”
“Actually, not exactly, rather I do believe I may have increase our chances of stopping you.”
“What the hell are you babbling about old man?”
“Look for yourself.”
Richard looked to the blade seeing charm slapped over the gem on the hilt. The blade itself had lost its light and looked to be normal, no longer elegant and shining. Richard just laughed and continued on this rampage, leaving the dim blade behind.
“Sarwar you’ve done nothing other than damn all those still alive. I hope you enjoy being known as the one that enforced the worlds end. Well until you die that easy. Everyone’s going to die… Everyone.”
Sarwar took the blade and left. This fight was over for the army; all that was left was to wait for Ricardo and Nicole to correct it. He signaled for everyone to retreat. As they all left he headed to the main square when the statue of Ricardo still stood. If it had been Nicole in her body at the time, she’d have stopped here. It’s a pity she wasn’t. The state of Ricardo was standing tall, both hands clasped on the hilt of his sword, looked out to the ramparts outside of Talson. Directly across, those eyes would meet the Statue in Celestial of Sarwar looking back at him. Sarwar climbed the statue and impaled the sword in to the stone sword. He left it there, looking back only once, before he and his army returned home. Talson’s second gate was holding Richard, but Sarwar has no idea how long that would last.
“Please little one, stop that man before it’s too late.”
