Fighting Franz the Dejected Assailant requires you to manage a very aggressive opponent who uses both a claw and a sword.

You can find this boss at the Forma Storage Tower on MagMell Island. This fight only happens during the Timeline Shift Decision: Noah questline if you are in the 2177: Assault on MagMell Era timeline.

Mastering the Parry

Most of the melee strikes from Franz the Dejected Assailant can be parried. You should use the Mutinous Bracer or the Reaper to help catch these moves in CODE VEIN II.

Look for his Claw Dash or his Lance Thrust combos, as these are the easiest to predict. Parrying these specific attacks will give you a large window to deal damage.

Finding Openings

You can fit your own attacks between his movements. Every time the boss finishes a three-hit melee combo, you have a moment to strike before he starts his next move. If he uses his Claw Combo, try to dodge toward the final Ground Smash.

This puts you in a perfect spot to land two hits. His Two-Hit Sword Combo is also a good time to use a heavy attack or a powerful Formae.

Adjusting for the Second Phase

When the boss enters his second phase, he will start using ranged attacks more often. These are much harder to parry because the timing is different. It is better to focus on running and dodging during this part of the fight in CODE VEIN II.

Attacks like his Laser Beam cannot be parried, but if you avoid them successfully, you will still find chances to hit him while he recovers.
