To grow stronger, you have to spend time exploring. The world has side dungeons and spots where you can pick up Materials to fix up your Weapons. Moving through these areas is a big part of how you get through the game.

Understanding Eras and Quests

The world changes between different time periods. You will see the Present, a Past era for the story, and a Free Explore mode. This Free Explore mode lets you walk through the whole world in that older time.

Some Quests only appear in the Present, while others only happen in Free Explore. It is smart to finish these while you are there so you can get the rewards in CODE VEIN II.

The physical world does not change much between these times. If you go into a dungeon and beat it in the Present, it will stay beaten in the Free Explore era too. You won't find extra loot or new enemies in a spot you already cleared.

Mastering Your Abilities

While you are out in the world, look at your gear. You should always use a Blood Code that you have not finished training on yet. Even if it feels weak or you don't like it, keep it on in CODE VEIN II.

Learning everything from these Blood Codes is a major part of the game. Switch to a new one as soon as you finish the old one, so you are always learning while you hunt for Materials.
