Elden Ring Guide | Strength Build with Greatsword of Radahn
Here's a guide on how to make a strength build with the Greatsword of Radahn in Elden Ring.
Game Guide by Ragib Rawnak on Aug 23, 2025
The Greatsword of Radahn stands as one of the most powerful Colossal weapons available, offering you two distinct variants to master.
This weapon provides the versatility of dual-wielding mechanics while delivering devastating damage potential through specialised Ash of War abilities.
Understanding both versions will help you maximise your combat effectiveness in various situations in Elden Ring.

Weapon Variants and Mechanics
You have access to two versions of this Colossal weapon: the Light variant and the Lord variant.
Both weapons belong to the Colossal class and feature the built-in dual-wield capability, making them function similarly to the original Greatsword of Radahn from the base game.
The movesets remain nearly identical between variants, with the primary difference lying in their respective Ash of War abilities in Elden Ring.
Lord Variant Combat Strategy
The Lord version comes with the Promised Consort Ash of War, which is the weapon's main Strength.
This Ash of War gives you a lot of Hyper Armor, which lets you trade blows with enemies while keeping your assault going in Elden Ring.
The ability is excellent for catching rolling enemies, especially if you time the activation just so and get a trade at the start of the cycle.
If you use this technique well, yoy often catch your opponents in the whole Ash of War phase, which gives you chances to do a lot of damage in Elden Ring.

In many situations, the burst potential is powerful enough to kill phantoms with full health, making it very useful in invasion situations.
Light Variant Applications
The Light variant features the Lightspeed Slash Ash of War, which offers different tactical advantages.
This ability works best when enemies don't expect it, which adds an element of surprise to the fight in Elden Ring.
The damage output isn't as high as the Promised Consort's, but it makes up for it with Hyper Armor qualities that keep it from being interrupted while it is being executed.
You can trade with more than one opponent at a time without worrying about being knocked out of the animation, which is excellent for controlling crowds.
But remember that the damage is still lower than the Lord variation.
Build Requirements and Scaling
Both versions have the same range of Strength and dexterity, although the Strength required is a little higher.
This makes the weapon easier to use for builds that rely on Strength, but it may also be used well by builds that emphasise quality.
To achieve optimal performance, prioritise meeting the strength requirements before investing in dexterity in Elden Ring.

Talisman Configuration
Your Talisman setup should focus on maximising the Ash of War potential. The Shard of Alexander is essential since the weapon's primary damage source comes from its ash abilities.
For invasion scenarios, consider using health-boosting Talismans to survive trades against multiple opponents in Elden Ring.
The Bull-Goat's Talisman provides valuable poise increases, helping you maintain offensive pressure when taking hits.
You can swap the health Talisman for stamina regeneration options after taking damage to maintain sustained combat effectiveness throughout longer encounters in Elden Ring.
