The Black Steel Twinblade stands out as one of the most versatile new weapons introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This guide will walk you through optimizing this powerful Twinblade for Strength-based builds, covering everything from stat distribution to combat strategies.

Weapon Overview

You'll find that the Black Steel Twinblade shares its moveset with the renowned Godskin Peeler, inheriting one of the strongest Twinblade movesets in Elden Ring.

What makes this weapon particularly attractive for Strength builds is its ability to perform exceptionally well when heavily infused, without requiring high Dexterity investments that typically limit other Twinblades.

Even when infused with heavy materials, the weapon keeps its Faith scaling, which opens up possibilities for hybrid Strength-Faith compositions. You can also use weapon Greases to do even more damage in Elden Ring.

Infusion Analysis

Sacred infusion would do better than other infusions when you test them out because of the weapon's Faith scaling. However, a Heavy infusion always does more damage with most attacks and the Ash of War.

The key advantage comes from your ability to apply Greases with Heavy infusion, which pushes the damage slightly above what Sacred infusion can achieve.

Sacred infusion remains viable, especially when using Sacred Blade as your Ash of War, but the Strength build offers greater variety in Ash of War selection without limiting you to Faith-based options in Elden Ring.

Stat Distribution

For optimal performance, aim for 54 Strength to maximize heavy infusion benefits when two-handing the weapon. Complement this with 25 Faith to unlock a wide range of proper incantations.

This stat spread provides access to Blessing's Boon for passive health regeneration during invasions, Golden Vow for stackable aura buffs, and various elemental defense buffs to counter specialized damage teams.

The 25 Faith investment lets you stack Golden Vow with weapon buffs and items like Boiled Crab to do the most damage possible. You can also keep spells that protect you from certain types of damage and opponents in Elden Ring.

Talisman Setup

Your Talisman selection should focus on maximising the Twinblade's damage potential. Shard of Alexander makes all of your Ash ofWarr attacks stronger, which is essential for this build's flexibility. The Two-Handed Sword Talisman is very important because you'll mostly use the two-handed moveset to do the most damage and reach.

Use the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis to make the most of the dual blade's ability to hit several times. These Talismans function well with Twinblades in Elden Ring.

Combat Strategy

You should use the running heavy attack as your main opener because it opens up numerous combo options. The sprinting heavy into the Sword Dance combo does a lot of damage and always catches opponents.

Use weapon Grease as a psychological technique by scaring opponents who are close by, and then quickly switch to running attacks to make them panic and roll. Most of the time, the two-handed moveset is better than the one-handed moveset since it has more reach and damage.

The weapon's versatility allows you to adapt your Ash of War selection based on the situation, unlike builds locked into specific weapon buffs like Sacred Blade in Elden Ring.
