The Mesmer Soldier Spear is one of the best new weapons that came with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

When you know how to use this amazing Spear and construct your character around its capabilities, it can do a lot of damage in Elden Ring.

You will learn how to make the most of its Pierce damage and build a character that can do a significant amount of damage with the right Talisman combinations and techniques.

Weapon Overview

The Mesmer Soldier Spear utilizes the standard great spear moveset, which grants it considerable power due to its piercing type.

Most of your attacks will be pierce-type, which means you can improve your whole fighting style by choosing the right gear. The charged heavy attack is the weapon's best feature. It's a double thrust combo that can cause significant damage in Elden Ring.

Primary Talismans

You should make the Spear Talisman your main piece. Since most of your attacks do piercing damage, this Talisman makes all of your moves work better. When enemies get hit by your charged heavy strikes, the damage will go up a lot.

The Axe Talisman is your second core component. It gives you a 10% boost to the damage of your charge attack.

This Talisman is essential for your damage output because your build is all about maximizing charged heavy attacks in Elden Ring.

If you plan to use the Two-Handed Sword Talisman mostly with both hands, you can stack it with your other gear. This combination method allows you to stack multiple damage enhancements on top of each other helpfully.

Physick Flask Enhancement

The Spiked Cracked Tear should be in your Physick. It gives your charged attacks an extra 15% boost. This tear combines with your Talisman setup to generate big damage multipliers in Elden Ring.

The Exalted Flesh and Uplifting Aromatic combination can raise your attack rating even further, which will make your damage potential even higher.

Ash of War #1 Royal Knight's Resolve

Royal Knight's Resolve is the best Ash of War choice for doing the most damage. If you use this talent before a fully charged heavy attack, you'll do a lot of damage.

When you combine this Ash of War with your charged attack setup, you can deliver powerful single strikes to your target.

Ash of War #2 Flaming Strike

When you have to deal with aggressive team compositions, consider using Flaming Strike as your backup plan in Elden Ring.

Three-person teams can make Pierce-type attacks harder; therefore, horizontal slash attacks are more effective. When Piercing damage isn't as helpful, Flaming Strike provides the horizontal coverage you need.

Ash of War #3 Piercing Fang

Piercing Fang is another specialized option that complements the weapon's natural emphasis on piercings. This Ash of War will help you keep your piercing damage theme while still making your combat style more flexible.

Combat Strategy

Your primary goal should be to execute fully charged heavy attacks as frequently as possible. The double thrust combo does the most damage, especially when you have your buff combinations active in Elden Ring.

When your opponents come at you aggressively, you should position yourself in a way that lets you take advantage of the Spear Talisman's counter-attack boost. When you have to fight more than one person, you should adjust your fighting strategy according to their setup and level of aggression.

Your Pierce-focused strategy works well against single targets and small groups, but against larger or more dispersed teams, you might need to switch to your horizontal assault options in Elden Ring.
