This build guide focuses on maximizing the effectiveness of running attacks, rolling attacks, and backstep maneuvers in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduces several powerful weapons that can significantly enhance specific movesets. When you combine the correct equipment and Talismans, some weapons become very powerful.

Essential Talismans

The Two-Handed Sword Talisman is the best way to improve your damage. When you use a two-handed weapon, this Talisman makes most attacks do 15% more damage overall.

The damage increase applies broadly across your moveset, making it an essential component for this build in Elden Ring.

Next, you should obtain the Retaliatory Cross-Tree Talisman, which provides a 12% damage boost to your backstep attacks, rolling attacks, and crouch attacks specifically in PvP encounters.

This Talisman directly enhances three of the core attack types that define this build's playstyle.

The third crucial Talisman is the Lacerating Crossed-Tree, which focuses specifically on enhancing your running attacks by 7.5% in PvP situations in Elden Ring.

While the percentage might seem modest, it stacks with other bonuses to create significant damage increases.

Armor Selection

You should wear the Leda's Armor set for this build. This armor provides a 10% damage increase to your rolling attacks, backstep attacks, and running attacks.

The armor combines the benefits of both the Retaliatory Cross-Tree and Lacerating Cross-Tree Talismans into a single equipment piece, though at a slightly higher percentage across all three attack types in Elden Ring.

Weapon Recommendation

For this build, the Greatsword is the best weapon choice. Its running strike is very useful during invasions since it swings in a horizontal pattern that works well against more than one opponent at a time.

The weapon's rolling and crouch attacks become reliable tools for catching opponents off-guard and creating panic situations, as you can easily roll-catch enemies who attempt to escape in Elden Ring.

Ash of War Selection

Since none of these damage buffs affect Ashes of War, consider pairing this setup with Royal Knight's Resolve.

This Ash of War complements the build perfectly because you'll primarily rely on the weapon's base moveset rather than special abilities in Elden Ring.

Stat Distribution

When using this arrangement, focus on building pure strength. Strength scaling is the best technique to get the most damage out of the Greatsword and other weapons in this group.

Additional Tips

You can try out numerous possibilities for your fourth Talisman slot based on how you want to play.

If poise isn't a primary concern for you, consider equipping the Spear Talisman when you plan to use crouch poke trades, since these attacks count as counterattacks and benefit from the damage boost in Elden Ring.
