Elden Ring Guide | Combo Build with Sword of Knight

The Sword of Knight, paired with the Witching Hour Slash Ash of War, offers a lethal combination. 

This weapon excels at creating extended attack chains that benefit from multi-hit enhancement Talismans, making it particularly effective against panic-rolling opponents in Elden Ring.

Basic Ash of War Combo

The Witching Hour Slash uncharged version delivers a three-hit combo as its base attack.

However, you can extend this combo by following up with either a light attack or a heavy attack. 

The heavy attack follow-up is better because it does more damage and has two strikes in Elden Ring.

You can do the most damage by combining the Ash of War with the heavy attack follow-up. This makes a five-hit proper combination.

Optimal Talisman Setup

The Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis are two multi-hit Talismans that function well with this combo.

These Talismans increase the damage you do as you hit more and more enemies in a row in Elden Ring.

Advanced Roll Catch Extension

To push this combo even further, you can initiate it with a specific attack that flows perfectly into the Ash of War. 

The crouch dual-wield attack serves as an ideal setup when executed properly. 

You must perform the crouch attack, allow your character to extend the blade fully, then release the Ash of War. 

This creates a seamless roll catch combo that hits opponents who panic roll after your initial crouch attack in Elden Ring.

Full Combo Chain

When you execute the complete attack sequence, you deliver two hits from the initial crouch attack, followed by the three-hit proper combo from the Ash of War, and conclude with the heavy attack follow-up. 

This results in a seven-hit combo chain from a weapon that possesses 45 bleed buildup, potentially triggering bleed damage on your opponent in Elden Ring.

Damage Enhancement

The primary damage sources come from The Shard of Alexander, enhancing your Ash of War damage, and the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, boosting your successive hits. 

You can further increase damage by incorporating Millicent's Prosthesis, though maintaining the Bull-Goat's Talisman provides valuable poise protection against light weapon interruptions.

Combat Effectiveness and Limitations

This combo is deadly against enemies who panic roll after your first attack in Elden Ring.

Once you learn how to time the sequence by yourself, you can always kill enemies easily in PvP fights.

The combo works best when you isolate single targets in Elden Ring.

Build Requirements

You should use this combination on a build that only has dexterity because the Sword of Knight only works with dexterity.

This simple way of assigning stats lets you get the most out of the weapon without distributing points over many different attributes.

Extra Weapon Properties

The Sword of Knight can get through shields, thus even if your opponent has one, they can't entirely block your hits.

This attribute gives the weapon an additional proper function in addition to its ability to combo in Elden Ring.
