Elden Ring Nightreign Guide | How To Win Every Run As Wylder
A guide on how to win any run as Wylder in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Game Guide by Groot on Jun 02, 2025
Wylder is the most reliable all-rounder in Elden Ring Nightreign with a melee focus that's going to be spamming your melee attacks, heavy attacks, jump attacks, ignoring spells and incantations for the most part, with the ability to pull out a bow and make good use of it in different situations.
You're able to fill almost any role and be a top-tier resource for stagger in the team. He's incredible, and not only that, he's the best solo class thanks to his forgiving skills and passive abilities, though he works perfectly in any team. He's that all-rounder.
Here's how you can win any or every run when playing as Wylder.
Early Game Strategy
Start every run by prioritizing survivability over damage. Your passive cheat death will save you once, but you need to make sure you're finding graces regularly to reset this crucial ability. It's always run by Graces on Wylder since he benefits more from this safety net than other characters.
Focus on finding a quality weapon (B strength, C dexterity scaling) as early as possible. Great swords are your top priority, especially if you have the Slate Whetstone relic for the special fire follow-up attack. If you can't find a great sword, look for fist weapons, axes, or great spears in that order.
Building for Success
Prioritize damage negation in your dormant power selections. Physical damage negation is most important, followed by status and elemental resistances. Health increases and health regeneration are also excellent choices. Remember, staying alive and landing consistent hits is better than having high DPS while dead.
If you find a weapon with excellent Ash of War, consider building around FP restoration through relics like the old pocket watch or team synergy. The ability to spam powerful Ash of War attacks can carry entire runs.
Relic Setup Priority
Your ideal early setup should include:
Knight of the Beast (green) for stamina recovery on successive attacks
Old Pocket Watch (green) for FP restoration on successive attacks
Slate Whetstone is using a great sword for the exceptional fire follow-up
If you can only get two of these, prioritize Knight of the Beast for the stamina sustained, as it allows you to maintain constant aggression. Use the chalice setup (red, yellow, universal white) for maximum flexibility in relic combinations.
Combat Fundamentals
Master your claw shot utility. It's not just an attack - use it for mobility by jumping after activation for extra distance—target shield enemies to instantly rip their shields off and break their stance. Most importantly, you can use claw shots even without stamina, making it a perfect emergency dodge tool.
Your buckler parry is incredibly powerful. Use it aggressively against enemies with long combos, especially Crucible Knights. Don't be afraid to spam parries - the buckler has excellent parry frames.
Ultimate Usage
Use your onslaught stake strategically. The fully charged version does more damage and stagger, but the quick version uses less ultimate charge. Use the quick version against agile enemies that might dodge the whole animation.
Remember that you're completely immune to damage during the ultimate animation. Use this as a panic button to avoid boss mechanics when things get dangerous.
Open fights with a combo of heavy attacks, jump attacks, and Ash of War to get an early stance break, then immediately charge your ultimate as the enemy recovers for a guaranteed hit and second knockdown.
Weapon Handling
Understand your moveset changes. One-handed great sword attacks are horizontal (great for groups), while two-handed attacks become vertical. When two-handing, charge heavy attacks for horizontal AoE swings or tap for vertical strikes.
Don't ignore your bow. As a dexterity scaling weapon, it provides excellent utility for pulling enemies, dealing with ranged threats, or finishing off low-health targets while conserving stamina.
Advanced Tips
Hunt for the partial HP restoration on post-damage attacks relic - it's the Bloodborne rally mechanic and incredibly powerful for aggressive playstyles. This lets you trade hits confidently and recover health immediately by landing attacks.
If you're struggling with FP management, coordinate with teammates. Recluse can mark targets that restore your FP when you hit them, creating powerful synergies.
Always upgrade your starting weapon if you find Knight of the Beast early, as it adds fire damage to your starting armament and can carry you through entire runs with proper upgrades.
Guaranteed Success Formula
1. Secure survivability through damage negation and health bonuses.
2. Find a quality weapon with good Ash of War potential.
3. Get a Knight of the Beast relic for stamina sustain.
4. Master parrying with your buckler.
5. Use claw shot for mobility and emergency dodges.
6. Save your ultimate for guaranteed stagger opportunities or emergency immunity.
7. Always reset your cheat death passive at graces.
Follow this formula, and you'll have the tools to complete any run, regardless of RNG weapon drops or relic availability.
