Lockpicking is an essential technique you should learn in Gothic 1 Remake. Learning Lockpicking early gives you lots of opportunities to get good amount of Loot early on.

You can get extra Ore by picking Locks on Chests. You will find many Chests in the Camps. For example, you can try to open the Chest belonging to Diego near the main gate of the Old Camp. It is right in front of Thorus.

Note that this Chest holds less Ore than it did in the old game. Picking Locks is a good way to get ahead, but the system is much harder now in Gothic 1 Remake.

How the New Lockpick Works

The new system is a Puzzle. You will see up to six panels on a Chest. You need to line up all of them so the pin rests in the center hole at the same time.

Some chests are harder than others. Moving one panel might shift another one too. You have to figure out the right order to move them. It takes some real thought to crack these Locks in Gothic 1 Remake.
