Iron Maiden :P

Hey NoobFeeders
So here it comes, the Iron Maiden blog as I promised in my last blog :)
Question : Now what does Iron Maiden mean ? :P
Answer : An iron maiden (German Eiserne Jungfrau) is a torture device, consisting of an iron cabinet, with a hinged front, sufficiently tall to enclose a human being. It usually has a small closeable opening so that the
torturer can interrogate the victim and torture or kill a person by piercing the body with sharp objects (such as knives, spikes or nails), while he or she is forced to remain standing.
lol Now back to the original topic :P You already know about this great band :) But I'm just providing a small Intro to fulfil the formalities :D
About the BAND
Iron Maiden is a heavy metal band from east London, England, formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris, formerly a member of Gypsy's Kiss and Smiler. They are one of the most successful and influential bands in the heavy metal genre, having sold more than 100 million albums world-wide. The band has already played over 2000 live shows throughout its career.
Original Members
Steve Harris - bass (1975-present)
Dave Murray - guitar (1976-present, replaced Dave Sullivan after only two months)
Paul Day - vocals (1975-1976)
Terry Rance - guitar (1975-1976)
Ron 'Rebel' Matthews - drums (1975-1977)
Current Lineup
Bruce Dickinson - vocals (1982-1993, 1999-present)
Dave Murray - guitar (1976-present)
Adrian Smith - guitar (1980-1990, 1999-present)
Janick Gers - guitar (1990-present)
Steve Harris - bass (1975-present)
Nicko McBrain - drums (1983-present)
One thing that really amazes me is Iron Maiden was formed in1975 by Steve Harris, who joined up with guitarist Dave Murray a few months later. Thirty five years later, the two remain at the helm of Iron Maiden.
Iron Maiden's work has inspired other sub-genres of heavy metal music, including power metal and speed metal. They are cited as major influences by (amongst others) the thrash metal band Slayer, pop-punk band Sum 41 and jam band Umphrey's McGee.
The band's mascot, Eddie, is a perennial fixture in the horror-influenced album cover art, as well as in live shows. Eddie also featured in a first-person shooter video game, Ed Hunter.

Misconceptions about the band
In the year 1982, the band released one of their most popular, controversial and acclaimed albums, The Number Of The Beast. This led to Christian groups, particularly in the US, branding the band as Satanic and unholy; smashing and burning the band's albums in bonfires became common. In the 90s the band was banned from performing in Chile for the same reasons (due to the influence of the catholic hierarchy over the government), but contrary to this belief, the band is not Satanic. According to the band the devil imagery which is linked with the band due to a few songs and their album covers is not connected with their religious beliefs and is not the focus of their music. In an interview included on Iron Maiden's DVD The Early Days, Steve Harris set the record straight by saying that he is not a Satanist. The band's later albums contain songs and lyrics about war, religion, terrorism, corruption and present day crisis and events rather than songs about Satan or the occult. A Matter of Life and Death was based on war, the Manhattan Project, birth and religion and reached No.4 on the UK charts.

Before I finish I'd like to quote from them
"Won't you come into my room, I wanna show you all my wares, I just want to see your blood, I just want to stand and stare, See the blood begin to flow, As it falls upon the floor, Iron maiden can't be fought, Iron maiden can't be sought..."
