Journalism award + TFC/Crew

At Saturday night's journalism gala (put on for my program at school) which I did not attend, I won an award. The "Woodward & Bernstein Humanitarian Award" for what I was told was for ethics. Pretty sweet award, this'll go nicely in my portfolio.

Also on Saturday was Toronto FC's second game, the home opener for the 2008 MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew. Both teams were missing some key players and it ended in a 1-1 draw, bringing TFC's record this year to 1-0-1 (W-L-T). Next week they open at home vs Seattle (2-0-0).

TFC's got quite the rivalry with Columbus, too. It's great. Over 1,500 TFC supporters made the trip to C-bus and afterwards there were a handful of shoving matches. Ten to 15 police cruisers, pepper spray, police helicopters. This kind of rivalry is fantastic. It's exciting. I plan on going to one of those TFC/Crew matches one day.

Below: TFC supporters, taking up one entire back section, holding up newspapers to show they were uninterested during the Crew's championship banner unveiling (sorry if it's big).
