Here’s a guide to extracting effectively in Marathon.

You can find Extraction Beacons marked on your map. These spots change slightly every match. To leave, you must walk up to a beacon and turn it on. This starts a countdown. If you are alone, you have to wait 30 seconds.

If your whole squad stands in the Extraction Ring, the time drops to 10 seconds. Getting out fast is much safer.

The problem is that a giant light shoots into the sky when you start the timer. A loud sound also plays for everyone on the server. This tells every other player exactly where you are in Marathon.

Fighting for Your Exit

Other squads will see your light and might try to take your loot. They can come to the Extraction Ring to fight you before you finish the timer. Sometimes, you can work with others.

If another player steps into the ring with you, they can escape at the same time. You also need to watch out for AI enemies. Some beacons are guarded by robots that spawn and attack during the countdown. It is smart to clear the area before you activate the beacon.

The Final Countdown

You should always look around for hidden players before you start the exit. If you die during the countdown, you lose all the items you found in Marathon.

The light beam makes you a big target for anyone nearby. If the main timer for the match runs out, these spots will close. You will then have to find the Final Xfill to get home. This is the last chance for anyone left on the map to survive.
