In Marathon, losing your health happens in a few steps. You need to know how these work so you can stay in the fight.

Handling the Down State
When you take too much damage in Marathon, you fall into a down state. You stay on the ground, but you are not out yet. Your teammates can run to your spot to pick you up. If you have a Self-Revive Kit, you can use it to get yourself back up.
You must be careful because enemies can find you while you are down. They can perform an Execution on you. This kills you completely and gives them back their Shield. Do not stay still. You have to crawl away and find a place to hide.
Coming Back From Death
You can still return to the game even if you are fully killed. This is possible as long as one person on your team is still alive.
When you get back into the match, you keep what is in your pockets. If an enemy took items from your body, those are gone. Anything they left behind stays with you in Marathon.

Using Self-Revive Kits
A Self-Revive Kit is an item you can find in boxes around the map. You can also get them from the Caloric faction. They cost 500 Credits.
It is a good idea to have one with you. This is very helpful if you play alone and someone hits you from a long way off.
