The Hairpin is a tool you need to explore most of the world in MIO: Memories in Orbit. It works like a grapple hook and lets you reach areas that are otherwise impossible to get into. You should try to get this early so you don't get stuck.

Path to the Spine

Start at the Nexus and walk up past Shii. Head to the left and take the lift up to Level 1, which is the Spine. Once you are at the top, go left and follow the path until it ends.

Jump off the edge and drop down to the bottom area. You can fight the enemies here or ignore them to keep moving in MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Facing the Boss

Go to the right and keep moving down through the area. You can search junk piles for Nacre along the way. Continue heading left until you reach the very bottom.

You will enter a room where you must fight a boss named Egis. To win, use three-hit combos and stay in the air to dodge his attacks. If you have extra health segments, this fight will be much easier.

Claiming the Ability

After you beat Egis, head to the right and drop down further. Follow the path all the way to the bottom and then turn left. You will find a Strange Tube in this area in MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Interact with the pipe to meet Samsk. They will upgrade your character and give you a short tutorial on how to use your new power. Once you finish the test, you will have the Hairpin ability permanently.
