Here’s a guide on how to defeat Monete in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

Prince Monte fights on a flying stingray, so you need to be able to deal with attacks across the whole screen and changes in position all the time.

Boss Overview

You battle Prince Monte, a fighter who can ride his stingray across the field. He can create space quickly because he moves well, and most of the fight is about managing spacing while reacting to attack patterns.

If you stay near the middle of the field, you can better respond to his moves and take advantage of short openings after his attacks in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

First Phase Attacks and Strategy

In one of his first strikes, Prince Monte makes straight lines where weapons drop from the sky. These lines cover a lot of the area, but you can get around them by rolling to the sides. If you roll toward Prince Monte, you can hit him one or two times before he starts the next run. He does this move four times.

Another move has Prince Monte fly upward and charge toward a marked circle on the ground. During this attack, avoid melee combat and use your gun if you have ammunition.

After most major attacks, Prince Monte returns to the center of the arena, giving you a short window to attack. Remaining near the center helps you make the most of these moments in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

He also performs a lightning-marked melee attack, charging his weapon. You can strike him briefly between attacks, but it is safer to move away until you learn the timing.

Another attack creates multiple waves of explosions around him, shown by pink markings on the ground. Instead of moving away, roll toward him just before the first explosion triggers. He will not move until all waves finish, allowing you to attack. He can repeat this sequence three times.

Chase Segment and Shield Phase

When Prince Monte’s health drops to about thirty percent, he moves to a higher area and starts a chase sequence. Projectiles fall from the sky, marked by circles on the ground, while walls move toward you. You must move north, dodge the missiles, and pass through open gaps in the walls.

After clearing several obstacles, you reach a rope that leads to Prince Monte, who is protected by a shield. You stand on three platforms connected by ropes and can move between them in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

A ruptured projectile appears; you must pick it up and throw it at Prince Monte using your backpack. Platforms will light up before being struck by lightning, forcing you to move. You must hit Prince Monte three times with the projectile to remove the shield and return to the main arena.

Second Phase Changes

In the second phase, Prince Monte adds chain attacks that span the entire arena. He moves along these chains one at a time. You can attempt to hit him during this, but it is more effective to defeat the enemies that spawn so you can recharge your ammunition.

He also combines earlier attacks, such as using falling weapon lines during melee strikes or triggering explosion waves during aerial charges.

You do not need to attack during these combinations, but if you choose to, the melee attack combined with falling weapons is the safest opening. Wait for the guns to move away, dodge the melee attack, and then strike.

The chase segment repeats with a small change, as flying enemies appear during the three-platform section. You can shoot them or let them explode at a distance before continuing to throw the ruptured projectiles at Prince Monte.

Final Phase Adjustments

In the last part, Prince Monte adds more bombs and projectiles to his already existing attacks. His aerial charges now include falling objects, and chain attacks leave damaging trails in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

The straight-line weapon attack includes more repetitions, and his melee attacks trigger explosion patterns that move from the top of the screen to the bottom.

Your overall strategy remains the same. The explosion-wave attack around Prince Monte is still the safest way to deal damage. Outside of that attack, relying on your gun helps you deal damage while avoiding unnecessary risk.
