PS3 Update

For those who don't know, my PS3 died on Thursday and since then my work shifts have dragged on like you would not believe. What is a twelve hour shift has seemingly lasted three times that and my underworked thumbs are starting to develop a twitch. I didn't realise just how much I relied on the system to pass the time and the sooner my replacement Slim comes the better. They've given me an estimated delivery time of next Thursday, which is a little disappointing, but I guess I can hold out that long.

What added insult to injury was the delivery of my free game from EA, which they sent me after I complained to their UK manager about the premature shutdown of their servers for Lord of the Rings: Conquest. I made the point that many who purchased the game had been short-changed and that those who were aiming for the platinum trophy had been left in the wilderness. I received a very swift reply back offering one game of my choice from their selection and I chose Trivial Pursuit.

The best piece of news about this whole saga though was when I was perusing possible short-term fixes to my console in order to retrieve data from the hard-drive. I came across a company who send a technician to your home, who will fix it there and then for you, allow to you to take your data from it, and then either charge you for the labour, or buy your console from you as payment. This is the ideal scenario for me as I'm a little short on cash to pay for a repair outright and wasn't entirely sure what I was going to do with my decrepid PS3 anyway.
