So much to ransom, So little time... (a EVE pirate blog)

So today me and a corp mate were out hunting in the Dal system. after about 10 to 20 mins we locate a rifter class ship on our scanners.

my corp mate Kalreck warps in to confirm his location. upon his arrival i am told to warp to his location. I warp in to find Kalreck already engaged in combat with the pilot and i join him with guns a blazin. the fight was easy with just the basic tacticts of orbit at 500 meters, warp scramble to prevent our target's escape, engine web to slow his ship down, and open fire.

upon taking his shields and armor down in seconds, we are now at his structure. keep in mind we have angel NPC units attacking us AND him. so we continue firing at his structure to finish the job...here is where things get funny...well funny to me and Kalreck at least. at 10% structure he sends a convo invite to offer a ransom to save his ship... he is at 10% structure... the bear bones of his ship... between latency and actually opening the convo, it was not enough time for me to cease fire AND tell Kalreck to cease with out blowing him up. not only that, but we can't make the angel unit stop attacking him, so his destruction was innevatable and beyond the control of both me and my friend.

i ceased fire and opened convo anyways, but like i said, not enough time and his ship was destroyed. as his ship blows up he says cease fire he will pay ransom, obviously not noticing it is to late. as he notices what has just happened, he proceeds to call me a dipshit and immiedietly leave convo.

we lock onto his escape pod and warp scramble him to prevent his escape. Kalreck opens convo with our helpless victem for another attempt at ransom. his life is now in our hands, he either pays or is killed. at this point he says in local chat he was willing to do a ship ransom, but the pod ransom isnt worth it as he has no stat implants and would be losing nothing worth anything upon death. he then "orders" us to kill his little pod... we obliege and kill him...guess he has a new clone body to brake in now....

we then loot his wreck, warp drive to our safe spots and wait for our criminal timers to end so the CONCORD doesnt nutralize our ships on sight... his surviving ship parts and cargo sold for a little over 40k.... sigh, not even enough to by a armor plate, let alone make his ship worth saving by ransom... so the moral of the story is, 10% structure is not enough time to open a convo for ransom when you have 2 pirates, a npc, and latency against you... and dont call someone else a dipshit for your own mistake...

overall i found the whole thing funny and I was glad to add another kill to my kill log :P
