Yes, the Sunday films recommendations are back. This Sunday, I recommend you to watch "American Gangster", a crime film released in 2007, starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, directed by Ridley Scott. If Scott's name rings any bell to you, well your instict is right, since he's the director of "Gladiator" too.
The film refers to the late 60's era, where the leader of a mafia gang dies and his driver decides to take his place in the rank. What makes it more interesting is the fact that the story is actually true.
On one side, Frank Lucas (Washington), a heroin importer in the Harlem district of Manhattan. He imports them with a unique way, which guarantees him success in two things. Firstly, the stuff cannot be traced during the transportation and secondly, since it comes straight from the source, its quality is supposed to be the best and at a very low price.
On the other side, Richie Roberts (Crowe) an untouchable detective, a man with rare honesty. He's the head of a newly created task force that aims to stop major drug trafficking. He will recruit officers to work by his side for this cause. Will he make it ?
Quote of the film : Frank Lucas - The most important thing in business is honesty, integrity, hard work, family, never forgetting where we came from. See, you are what you are in this world, that’s either one of two things: Either you're somebody ... or you’re nobody.
