The Way I Used To

I used to dance.The dance itself was not an ordinary dance,it was a lot more than that.The first steps I learned at the age of six,but the real meaning of dance I realised much later.

Every national dance represents one particular region.This one combined various cultures.Music,costumes and steps were highly influenced by different religions and great variations of style have been developed:Circle,Chain,and Couple were the most typical.

Circle used to promote a feeling of unity among the dancers,symbolically among nations.Chain dances usually had aleader .They involved serpentine or spiral formation ,as well as straight-lined patterns.The dancers used to be lined up side by side,or they used to follow one another. However,if they touched,the contact was made in various ways:holding hands,linking arms,even grasping one another's belt if the rhythm became really fast.

Couple was the most romantic formation of all:man's arm around the girl's waist.It happened more than once that the dancing couple ended up married in real life.... 

As I said before,it was a lot more than just a dance.It was something that you are born with :music in your heart,rhythm in your veins was coming to the surface every time you danced!!!
