World War Z x The Walking Dead Guide | Walkers and Spike Walker Tips
Headshot tactics, explosive counters, and the best classes to survive tougher Walkers.

The Walking Dead update in World War Z makes Walkers tougher and pins punishing. You get better results by aiming for heads, using explosives, and bringing the right classes.
Walker Health and Headshots
Walkers have much more body health. With the Sporting Carbine, it takes about 19 body shots to kill a Walker, while a normal zombie on Extreme takes about six shots. That is roughly six to seven times more body health. Explosive Ammo kills Walkers much faster, and the Armored Walker is even tankier.

Head health is mostly unchanged, so a headshot can one-tap. The main exception is the Helmet Walker, where the helmet can deflect bullets. A face shot can one-tap, including with a Pistol, so precision stays the best habit.

Fire, Melee, Pins, and Stun Drones
Fire takes longer. A Walker takes around 10 seconds to die to fire, while a normal zombie takes about five seconds. Melee damage is similar to normal zombies, so it is two hits with Slasher light melee. The Rooted perk on Slasher and Exterminator does not work, and a Walker can still pin you immediately.
A Stun Drone lasts poorly on Walkers. Each stun uses heavy charges. After about three stuns it can hit yellow, and after about four stuns it expires.
Spike Walker Counter Guide
The Spike Walker is dangerous up close. Getting close, meleeing, or using a Chainsaw can stagger you and start bleed. The bleed goes through temporary health.

Shoot the Spike Walker until it drops, then go in for a close melee execution. It can be buggy. If a melee swing misses, you can still get bled because it can swing while on the ground.
There is only one clean way to kill a Spike Walker, and that is with an Impact Grenade. It can be stopped with Vanguard shield play. It can be stunned by Slasher, but melee isn't very safe, so weapons are best.
Best Classes for Walkers
Gunslinger is a strong DPS fit because headshots stay efficient. With Front Line Supply, consecutive headshots can refund ammo, give temporary health, and bring back grenades.
Judo is a strong alternative to Concentration if you want help standing up after getting pinned by a Walker or another special. Explosive secondaries and Impact Grenades help drop specials fast, including the Spike Walker. Tankier bodies also mean more headshot kills when spraying with shotguns or automatic weapons.
Medic helps because a long-range stim can save a pinned teammate. When someone is on the ground and other Walkers are nearby, a clean headshot rescue is harder, and a stim is often safer.

Fixer with Explosive Ammo speeds up body-shot kills when headshots are not consistent. Vanguard works as frontline. The shield counters Walker pins and helps versus the Spike Walker.
Quick Hands and Shield Block support faster reloads for a semi-DPS style. A solid squad setup is Gunslinger, Medic, Fixer, and Vanguard.
Other Class Notes and Drone Master Tips
Hellraiser is usable after the Fire Temper nerf. Fire Temper no longer pushes zombies away, but it can still control them. The MGL stays strong for deleting specials, and Gas C4 can reload the MGL.
Exterminator is tougher because Rooted does not work and ammo refund perks are limited. Slasher is harder because you cannot melee the Spike Walker, and normal Walkers can still pin you.
Drone Master struggles. The Stun Drone only stuns Walkers about four times before expiring, and the Pistol Drone takes about 20 body shots to kill a Walker, versus about four shots to kill a normal zombie.
Firecracker boosts shot damage by 100%, cutting it to about 10 body shots, and Well-Trained increases damage further. Firecracker also makes you go loud and can attract more swarms. Pairing Drone Master with Fixer can help you duplicate drones more consistently.
