ASUS ExpertBook A7 Review: Lightweight Design and Long Battery Life

The ASUS ExpertBook A7 is a lightweight business laptop ideal for professionals who need a portable device with long battery life and reliable everyday performance. It's less than half an inch thick and weighs only 2.65lbs, pairing a beautiful aluminum chassis with a 14-inch 3K OLED display and fast processors. It costs $1,399 and targets professionals who need a reliable laptop for on-the-go work.

ASUS ExpertBook A7 Focuses on Mobility and Affordability

The ExpertBook family includes several models for different professional needs. The ExpertBook Ultra targets executives who want premium features and powerful CPUs, while the B series offers flexibility so businesses can tailor specs to their needs. The P series is centered on solid office performance for areas like finance and HR.

The new A series is built for portability, making it ideal for consultants, sales reps, founders, and anyone who is often on the go — in airports, cafes, and client offices. It also provides a more budget-friendly entry point into the ExpertBook line-up.

Lightweight Construction and Practical Connectivity

The ExpertBook A7 weighs just 2.65lbs and features an all-metal unibody made from 100% recyclable aluminum. Sturdy design that resists lid flex. Edges are a little sharp and could be more comfortable. It's available in Lunar Silver and Eclipse Black, maintaining a premium look without adding extra weight.

On the connectivity front, you have two USB-C ports, HDMI, a combined audio jack, USB-A, and a Kensington lock. But there is no Thunderbolt. The AMD version also supports USB 4 and is a good option for users connecting high-bandwidth devices.

3K OLED Display and Comfortable Controls

The 14-inch OLED display has a 2880x1800 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, with HDR brightness up to 600 nits. The anti-glare coating reduces reflections, making the laptop especially effective in changing lighting conditions. The coating slightly dulls vibrancy compared to glossy screens, but superb color accuracy and rich OLED hues make the screen good for productivity and light creative work.

The Chiclet keyboard is somewhat shallow, but it is comfortable to type on. Windows Hello facial recognition is replaced by a snappy fingerprint scanner, and the large haptic touchpad offers smooth operation and satisfying feedback.

Everyday Performance With Limited Gaming Capabilities

The setup we tested has an Intel Core 7 350 processor, with an AMD Ryzen 7 345 as an alternative. It handles everyday tasks like web browsing, email, document editing, and Photoshop just fine.

But this laptop isn't meant for demanding workloads like 4K video editing, Blender rendering, or running large language models locally. Overwatch played at around 50-60fps at 1200x800; however, unpredictable frame rates impacted gameplay. It has a dual-fan cooling system, so it manages heat well and produces around 48dB in Performance mode, 42dB in Standard mode, and 36dB in Whisper mode.

Exceptional Battery Life for Mobile Professionals

The 65Wh battery lasted more than 17 hours in a PCMark 10 Modern Office test. Productivity is also reasonably low-power for everyday use so that you won't be searching for outlets all day long. The standby efficiency is really outstanding. The laptop also only dropped about 3-5% of its battery after three days with the lid closed, so it's ready to go when you need it.

Final Thoughts

ASUS ExpertBook A7 is a premium business laptop with a lightweight build, high-quality OLED display, and great battery life. Perfect for workers and students who want portability and everyday productivity.

If you need more graphics power or local AI processing, consider the more capable ExpertBook Ultra. The ExpertBook A7 offers a powerful mix of features and performance for mobile professionals who value reliability, comfort, and long battery life.
