On February 25, 2026, Microsoft released updates for the ROG Xbox Ally X. The update includes BIOS 315 and several other improvements to the system.
The goal of these improvements is to enhance storage support, shader delivery, and interface changes, and to improve overall system speed.

Updates to Features and Improvements to the System
The most recent update information says that support for formatting removable storage has gotten better. You can now format microSD cards for games directly through the Xbox app while using the Xbox full-screen experience. This makes it easier to manage storage and lets you avoid leaving the Xbox interface.
Also, an improved shader delivery indicator has been introduced to the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X devices. A screen for a sophisticated shader delivery preload will appear if a game is preloading shaders. This procedure makes games start up faster and run more smoothly while you're playing.
More improvements include changes to the audio widget in the Game Bar, better filtering in the game library, new default game profiles that use balanced mode in Windows instead of performance mode, and better UI scaling for 900p. The patch notes also list some small enhancements to the system.
No new graphics drivers were available at the time of the update. A future GPU driver upgrade should enable testing performance across more titles.
Putting BIOS315 on the ROG Xbox Ally X
There are several ways to install BIOS315. You may find the update in Armory Crate, MyASUS under "System Updates," and Windows Update. If you download Windows updates and restart your computer, the BIOS update may commence automatically without you having to choose it.
To keep the installation from stopping, the gadget needs to be connected. It usually takes 5 to 10 minutes and involves a few restarts, black displays that go away, and some minor movement on the machine. These actions are part of the standard BIOS update process.
When the update is done, the system finishes it and restarts. We may check that BIOS315 is installed using Armory Crate or other system information tools. After verification, the device goes back to the Xbox full-screen experience for everyday use.
Cyberpunk Benchmark Comparison: BIOS314 vs. BIOS315
To see how the two BIOS versions performed differently, Cyberpunk was tested at 25w and 17w.
At 25w, the performance of BIOS314 and BIOS315 is still fairly close. In some situations, BIOS315 has a little edge in frame rates. It looks like the GPU workload has changed slightly, which could mean CPU and GPU resources are being used more evenly. But the benchmarks' outcomes are almost the same overall.

At 17 weeks, tests still show very few differences. Changes introduced in prior BIOS versions had already made performance better at this power level. BIOS315 is more stable and performs slightly better, though the differences are still tiny.
BIOS315 performs the same as, or slightly better than, BIOS314 and BIOS313 at both wattage settings. During testing, no functional issues were found.
Final Thoughts
Future updates to the GPU driver will likely further improve performance. When new drivers come out, we can use larger comparisons across multiple games to see how much better things are overall. Testing on older launch builds and the latest firmware updates will continue to provide us with information on how device performance is changing.
BIOS315 keeps the system stable while making small improvements. Updates keep the platform working while offering small enhancements.
