With the release of Naughty Dog's newest zombie thriller quickly approaching, fans are getting restless and eager to get back into the shoes of Ellie and Joel, fighting runners and clickers all over again. For some, all they can do is watch the trailers for The Last of Us 2 and wait, others may replay the first game to make sure that the story is fresh in their mind. But other fans might take things to the next level, like Pavesome Films does.
On June 2, the Youtube channel posted a video showcasing their skill with stop-motion LEGO animation by recreating the Last of Us Part 2 story trailer. Because of the many trailers that have been released over the last few months leading up to the game's release, there have been a multitude of scenes and unique interactions that players can experience for themselves. Pavesome, as a clear fan of the franchise, would rather focus on recreating the story elements from the trailers. Because of this, Pavesome has created a unique trailer that combines all of the previous trailers together in a beautiful, LEGO filter.
Even though it is clear that Naughty Dog's newest installment will not be a lighthearted game, fans cannot stop themselves from snickering at the awkward LEGO characters' movements. That being said, there are plenty of moments in the trailer that remind fans just how dark this game will be, as Ellie slashes and shoots LEGO clickers and humans alike. Just like the original trailers, this video is not appropriate for children, despite its LEGO recreation.
Pavesome's trailer may be different than the official trailers for The Last of Us Part 2, but this does not reduce the feeling of fear and anticipation among viewers. The video uses exemplary lighting and shadows to make fans feel like they are right there with Ellie, every step of the way. No matter if she is portrayed as a LEGO or as a human girl, fans are biting their nails as they watch her explore every dark corner within the trailer.
The Last of Us Part 2 releases in live action for PlayStation 4 on June 19.
