Last of Us Part 2 Voice Actress Laura Bailey Receives Death Threats

Over the 4th of July weekend, voice actress Laura Bailey shared on Twitter numerous death threats she received for playing the role of Abby in The Last of Us Part 2. Bailey both voiced and motion captured the character, whom has had strong polarizing reaction from players. This has included users making hate filled statements like “I will find u and kill your kid for that just wait for that” and “I will stab you”.

Laura Bailey is a high profile voice actress, having previous voiced characters like Chun-Li in Street Fighter, Fiona in Tales of the Borderlands, and Lucina in Fire Emblem Awakening. She has also appeared in numerous animated shows and anime such as Bleach, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z. None of her previous roles have garnered such public backlash from viewers. It seems that some fans of the Last of Us Part II lack a constructive outlet for their emotions, and can go as far to threaten the cast and crew of a work of fiction.

Bailey’s followers have been very supportive of her situation. The voice actress is not easily deterred and continues to actively post on social media.
