Apple States That Google Stadia and xCloud Violates App Store Guidelines

Apple won't allow Stadia or xCloud on the App Store because it violates the guidelines

The App Store is notorious for having shady applications. Most times you can find knockoffs of acclaimed titles or basically virus programs mislabeled as popular applications. Well, recently Microsoft confirmed they would love to have an Apple version of xCloud and even hosted a testing period but Apple stopped them from moving forward.

Based on the statement it would've arrived eventually as Microsoft attempted to resolve any issues but Apple just came out and stated they won't allow the project on Apple products.

When speaking to Business Insider, and obtained from The Verge, Apple stated:

The App Store was created to be a safe and trusted place for customers to discover and download apps, and a great business opportunity for all developers. Before they go on our store, all apps are reviewed against the same set of guidelines that are intended to protect customers and provide a fair and level playing field to developers.

Our customers enjoy great apps and games from millions of developers, and gaming services can absolutely launch on the App Store as long as they follow the same set of guidelines applicable to all developers, including submitting games individually for review, and appearing in charts and search. In addition to the App Store, developers can choose to reach all iPhone and iPad users over the web through Safari and other browsers on the App Store.

Apple does allow Valve's Steam Line and even Netflix which operate in a similar fashion. The Verge article does provide a well-argued point as Apple guidelines prevent apps without a full desktop app a cloud gaming service is not allowed.

It's much more likely that Apple just doesn't want a competitor on its own platform to Apple Arcade.
