Final Fantasy X was given a sequel way back on the PS2 as Final Fantasy X-2. It received mixed reception but left room for another sequel. Apparently, an outline was written but development has yet to be decided.
This was translated in a recent interview by Tetsuya Nomura with Famitsu. Stating that Kazushige Nojima wrote an outline for an X-3. However, Square Enix is focusing on Final Fantasy VII Remake. Square Enix is also working on Final Fantasy XVI for PS5 and having another major project probably isn't the best idea. Especially seeing how hard Marvel's Avengers flopped and Square Enix's notorious history for announcing projects way too early.
Personally, I would love to see Yuna return but maybe in the future.
